Air ticket refund request not processed even after 4 months.
I have booked an air ticket (Ticket details are pasted at the bottom of this complaint.) through Akbar travels on March 9th 2012; due to an unexpected problem I raised a cancellation request on March 12th 2012. I have send lot of emails to Akbar travels regarding the cancellation, initially they responded well (to get some clarifications) but later they stopped responding to my emails. Now it is almost 4 months from the date of request but still I didn’t get my money back. I got very much irritated by this attitude so I called the customer care on 3 different times. On First two times they just collected the information from me and put me on hold for nearly 5 minutes then the call got disconnected. Third time they said that “Mr Jayesh Nair” will reply your email, so I waited for a month time but didn’t see any reply in my inbox. Then I found the Grievance cell’s email id from the Akbar travels site and forwarded the long email thread to the grievance cell on July 10th 2012 again no response. I got really pissed off by seeing zero response after spending so much time and money on emails and phone calls. So I just decided to lodge the consumer compliant through this Forum. Please consider this compliant and help me on getting my money back.
I also enquired Air India office through my acquaintance regarding the cancellation process and fee; they told cancellation charges 75 SGD + Service charge which will be approximately 3400 INR. But the Akbar travels guys told me a different figure (Cancellation Fee: SGD 75(INR3005) + RAF Charge: SGD 75 (INR3005) + Service Charge: INR 500 + Bank Charges) which crosses 7000 INR. Total cost of the ticket is 11,439 INR but they are asking more than 7000 INR for refund. There is a lot of difference between the refund fee mentioned by the air line and the agency, Please help me on getting the correct refund amount.
